As it has been said nearly everywhere online, eSports has been growing steadily for the last few years and looks to continue growing at the same staggering rate. Major sporting coverage sites such as ESPN and Yahoo! Sports have already built out wildly successful eSports divisions and, according to a report from the industry intelligence company Newzoo, the growth will not only continue, but will accelerate beyond the initial expectations of the industry.

In 2016, the eSports industry is expected to have 292 million viewers, and have a global earning of over $463 million. These already impressive numbers, according to Newzoo, will continue to balloon to have an expected 427 million viewers and earnings of over $1 billion by 2019. Currently, more than 1.1 billion people worldwide have been exposed to eSports and that number is also expected to climb over the next 3 years by about 400 million.

"Explosive growth in coverage from global and local media, an intensified effort from game publishers, as well as the launch of an abundance of new leagues and events have accelerated the global exposure of esports beyond initial expectations," Newzoo said in a statement.

With the numbers of recent growth in the industry towering over the already high expectations, eSports advertising dollars are worth more now than ever before, and the money sponsors put towards eSports marketing looks to be paying back huge as companies can now reach 292 million viewers in an audience which is known throughout the industry for passion and heavy interaction.
