Bud Light Sponsors eSports All-Stars Tournament

May 12, 2016

Bud Light has been a long-time sponsor of many sporting events and teams around the world and they have recently decided that now is the time to invest in a booming market, eSports. Instead of choosing a particular team to back, the company has decided to set up an online poll and allow eSports fans to choose which of the top players from some of the biggest competitive games including: Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Halo, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, and Street Fighter. Once the All-star selections have been finalized, the chosen pros will be battling for the top spot on stage at TwitchCon later this year.

The beer maker’s dive into eSports is not a huge surprise when you consider that more than 2 out of every 3 american men under age 35 (a prime demographic for Bud Light and many other major companies) have watched an eSports event, according to a survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers. It seems dollars currently being placed in eSports marketing will have a major return, the eSports community is known for unparalleled fan interaction and participation with over 71% of fans saying they are hoping to be even more invested in eSports within the next year. That kind of fan loyalty shows that eSports advertising may be commonplace in the very near future.

Votes for the players who will be fighting to be crowned Bud Light All-stars is now open at budlight.com/eSports. Voting will end June 4th, 2016 and the winners tournament will held at this year’s TwitchCon in San Diego, California this September.
